The Foodery Sets Opening Date
Roxborough's new craft beer bottle shop set to open in 2012.
Neon signs advertising Troegs and Victory beer peek over brown paper covering the redesign of Roxborough's newest (and long-awaited) business—The Foodery bottle shop should open before year's end.
Jack Lee, one of the owners, confirmed Tuesday that the Ridge Avenue location will open Dec. 27. This occurs about a year after plans were announced to bring the craft beer store to Roxborough.
The Foodery currently has locations in Northern Liberies and Old City. The location, 6148 Ridge Ave., formely housed the Roxborough Development Corporation, which sold the property and moved down the Ridge.

The interior has been completely remodeled and doesn't look much like the former office. Refrigerators line the walls, carrying 800 different types of American and imported craft beer bottles.
Patrons can buy standard six-packs or create their own variety packs. Additionally, a deli counter and other prepared foods will be available on site.

The Central Roxborough Civic Association approved plans for the Foodery in November 2011. Since then, renovations and city permitting have pushed the opening day back again and again.
Rumors swirled that the ribbon-cutting would never occur. In the late summer, the Foodery assured Roxborough they were still renovating and promised that the opening day would come soon.
Now, if all goes according to plan, people can bring fancy six-packs to their New Year's parties starting Dec. 27.
