The Goat's Beard Expected to Open Monday
The new restaurant on Main Street in Manayunk expects to open on Monday.

The former location of The Main Street Bar & Grill at 4201 Main St. has been taken over by restaurateur Sean Coyle and head chef Dan Connelly for their new collaborative restaurant, The Goat's Beard.
From their menu to the aesthetics, the restaurant has gone through a transformation to reflect more of a "farm-to-table" look. The Goat's Beard plans to open its doors to the public on Monday for dinner.Â
Coyle, who owned Manayunk's Bourbon Blue, and Connelly, who owned Northern Liberties’ Copper Bistro, will focus on locally sourced foods and drinks. According to Connelly, their beer selection will feature local craft brews and their food will come from local farms and markets. Their chickens will come from Lancaster County, ducks from New York, and their vodka is Tito's Handmade Vodka from a distillery in Texas.

"Everything on our menu will be domestic. We're trying to keep everything as local as possible," said Connelly.
Everything on their menu is also homemade by Connelly and his kitchen staff. Nothing will be wasted on an animal, said Connelly. Burgers will be from fresh ground meat and The Goat's Beard eventually hopes to make their own cured meats from the same animal.

Though they wouldn't categorize themselves as a "tapas" place, Connelly said their plates are smaller and recommends sharing at least three plates for two people.Â
All plates are less than $20 at The Goat's Beard. For now, the restaurant will only be open for dinner service, starting from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. but they may eventually open up for brunch and lunch.Â
