Transforming Parking Spots Into Parks In Manayunk
The Park(ing) Day Global Initiative aims to turn parking spaces into temporary parks, raising awareness for public space.
MANAYUNK, PA -- Park(ing) Day is organizing a unique event to raise awareness for public space in several local municipalities and neighborhoods, including Manayunk.
During Parking Day, citizens take a parking space in town and turn it into a temporary mini public park. The day is part of a global initiative challenging citizens to reevaluate the way they see public spaces and how they can be utilized.
In Manayunk, the event will take place on the 4300 block of Main Street. PJA Architecture will team up with B Fabrication to help organize and design the space.

Participants are encouraged to come out to help design the "park" and enjoy the space.
Similar events are planned in Phoenixville, West Chester, Coatesville, and around Philadelphia.
