Yellowjackets Plague Wissahickon Valley Park Trail
A maintenance worker was attacked by yellowjackets recently and park goers are warned to avoid that area.
PHILADELPHIA – A section of a Wissahickon Valley Park trail is plagued by yellowjackets, according to the Wissahickon Environmental Center.
The center said one of its maintenance workers was attempting to clear a fallen tree near the forest loop (red trail) meets the blue trail when he was attacked by yellowjackets.
The environmental center said park goers should avoid the area or proceed at their own risk when trekking through that section of the park.

Additionally, the center says to keep all dogs on leashes and not to roll any logs as more yellowjackets may be stirred.
Yellowjackets, according to information from Rescue.com, sting and bite and are more aggressive than most stinging insects.
