Allentown might be small, but it has plenty of fun ways to pass the time. Whether you live in Allentown, PA, or you’re considering visiting soon, here are some ideas for fun ways to spend your day.

Dorney Park

If you’re in the Allentown area in the summertime, you can’t miss a visit to Dorney Park! Dorney Park offers a 2-for-1 amusement park experience with full access to a water park included in the price of admission. In addition to over 60 rides, you can also watch shows and attend themed events. If you have small kids, check out Planet Snoopy, which is located in the center of the park and offers rides made just for little ones.

Lehigh Valley Zoo

The Lehigh Valley Zoo is slightly north of Allentown and is open year-round. The zoo includes over 300 animals from 125 different species. Among their many seasonal events, The Winter Light Spectacular is one of the zoo’s most popular. It starts around mid-November and ends at the end of December.

The Allentown Art Museum

The Allentown Art Museum is home to over 19,000 pieces of art. Some of the art in the museum is from local artists, but much of it also represents artists from around the world. The museum’s art includes everything from recent pieces to pieces that date back almost 2,000 years ago. If you’re an art lover, this is one to check out!

Some Hidden Gems Around Allentown, PA

If you’re looking for something fun to do around Allentown, PA that is less well-known, you can check out the Museum of Indian Culture, the Coplay Kilns, or take a hike on the Trexler Nature Preserve. The Mack Trucks Historical Museum and America on Wheels are also great ways to spend a day around Allentown, especially if you’re a car or history buff.

If you need a fun indoor activity for your kids, check out the Da Vinci Science Center or the Liberty Bell Museum. If the weather is on your side, you can spend the day at Dutch Springs, which is a privately owned lake that offers scuba diving courses for beginners. There’s also Little Lehigh Park, Wildlands Conservancy, and the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market that are all worth a visit!
