Manhunt for Shooter in Trooper Ambush Continues; $50K Reward Offered for Information
Reports say injured trooper is alert, talking following surgery.

The manhunt continued Monday morning for the person who police said ambushed two Pennsylvania State Troopers during a shift change Friday night, killing one and injuring the other.
Killed in the shooting ambush around 10:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, was Cpl. Bryon Dickson of Dunmore, The Scranton Times-Tribune reported. The Blooming Grove barracks are in Pike County.
“Our prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues of the Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was killed in the line of duty Friday night outside the Blooming Grove, Pike County, state police barracks,” Gov. Tom Corbett said. “We are praying as well, for the full recovery of his colleague who was injured in the incident.”

Trooper Alex Douglass was wounded in the shooting, and underwent emergency surgery at Geisinger Medical Center in Scranton. He was alert and talking Sunday, The Philadelphia Inquirer said, and investigators hoped to speak with him sometime Monday about the incident.
Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers, a nonprofit group, has offered a $50,000 reward for information about the ambush, the Inquirer said.

“Every attack on an officer of the law is an attack on our state, our country and civilized society. The incident in Blooming Grove shows, once again, that our first responders face constant danger in order that the rest of us may live in peace and safety,” Corbett said.
