Trash-Talking Robot Has Something to Tell You

Waste Management's robot, dubbed 'Cycler,' appears at Salisbury Township's Earth Day celebration at Lindberg Park.

Cycler, a robot constructed of recycled material, was the hit of the show at Salisbury Township's first Earth Day event Saturday at Lindberg Park.

The robot is used as an educational tool about recycling, according to Patty Barthel of Waste Management Public Affairs.

"We use him as an educational tool, as well as a lot of fun," Barthel said. "He can hold a conversation and he loves working with kids."

Barthel said Cycler is taken throughout the year to school programs around the region to educate students on the basics of recycling.

"We do school programs, assemblies, birthdays, things like that," she said. "He draws a lot of attention and adults seem to like him too."
