Fitzgerald Submits Bills to Finance Environmental Charter School, Create Common Pleas Resource Centers
The County Council will vote on the bills at tonight's council meeting.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted two bills to County Council for consideration at its tonight’s meeting.
The first bill officially approves a project for the Environmental Charter School at Frick Park. The county will issue the school $6,000,000 of tax exempt notes to finance the acquisition of a school building located at 829 Milton Street. Some funds will also go to refinancing certain previously incurred indebtedness.
The notes are a limited obligation of the Authority, payable solely from the project or from The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park.

Fitzgerald’s second bill is an amendment to the 2014 Grants and Special Accounts Budget to authorize the acceptance of a $75,000 grant from the Pittsburgh Foundation to the Court of Common Pleas to be used for a Resource Center in a high-need, underserved area in Allegheny County; and the acceptance of $150,000 in federal pass-through funding to the Court of Common Pleas to be used for a Resource Center in a high-need, underserved area in Allegheny County.
The Center will provide supervision and social services for medium to high risk probationers in those communities, assist parolees to reenter local communities, and reduce the risk factors associated with recidivism.
