Second Vehicle in Pedestrian Parkway East Death Comes Forward

A possible second car in the death of Christopher Ballard comes forward.

Pennsylvania State Police have identified a possible second driver in the fatal pedestrian accident on Parkway East on Wednesday night.

State Police said a motorist, who was not identified, came forward saying his vehicle hit something around the time of the accident, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. A search warrant to investigate the vehicle was subsequently issued. Police said the evidence needs to be processed before they can determine whether the vehicle was involved in the fatality, the Post-Gazette said.

State Police are still searching for a third vehicle that is believed to have struck Christopher Ballard. Ballard, 44, of Morgantown, West Virginia, was walking in the left lane along Parkway East and was struck by a blue car around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, about a half mile east of the Boulevard of the Allies exit, according to KDKA-TV Pittsburgh. The impact of the crash threw Ballard into the westbound lanes of the parkway, where he was struck by two more cars.

The driver of a blue car, which police believe to have been the first to strike Ballard, came forward on Thursday, according to the Post-Gazette.
