August 11 Event for Families Considering Foster Care & Adoption
Local Parents to Share Stories of Love, Comfort & Healing through Caring for Lehigh Valley's Most Vulnerable Children.

ALLENTOWN, PA -- The Salvation Army’s Children’s Services program will host “Bringing Hope,” a special panel discussion for local families who are considering adoption or foster parenting, 9:30am – 11:30am, Saturday, August 11, at Faith Church, 6528 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown, PA, 18106. Several moms and dads who have served both as foster parents and adoptive parents through The Salvation Army, will share their personal stories with the audience. A question and answer session with the panelists and Salvation Army representatives will follow.
Since 1915, The Salvation Army Children’s Services has been connecting children with safe, loving, and caring homes and families across the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys, through temporary foster care as well as permanent adoption.
Currently, the State of Pennsylvania has more than 2,500 children who are waiting to be adopted. The Salvation Army’s Children’s Services received 517 referrals for foster care over the last year, doubling from the year before (256). Children referred the most often are age birth to 8 years of age. Foster care families are needed, particularly for young children and sibling groups, and adoptive families for school-aged children and sibling groups.
