Get Ready for 5K Road Races, Emergency Preparedness Day

Here's what's happening this weekend in and around South Whitehall.
- The Haunt 5K Zombie Run and 6K Run Like Hell will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Dorney Park. Costumes are not required but encouraged. Race day registration/packet pickup: 7:30 a.m.-8:45 a.m. $30 fee; $45 for both races. Register as a "human" for $30. "Humans" will not be timed but will be scattered throughout the course. For more information, visit www.runlehighvalley.com
- The fifth annual Catherine Boulay Foundation "Fight Like a Girl" 5K Run/Walk will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lehigh Parkway, Allentown. The foundation supports cancer patients and their families. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the race starts at 10:30 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female in both running and walking divisions. Medals will also be awarded to the top male and female cancer survivors to finish. Stay for provided lunch and family activities, including a raffle with some great prizes. $20 walker T-Shirt/$25 runner Tech Shirt.Â
- Senior citizens from Parkland School District and northwestern Lehigh County, and their families, are invited to attend the ninth annual Senior Citizens Activity Day beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Schnecksville Fire Company pavilion.
- Fires, tornados, flooding, winter storms. Do you have an emergency plan? Learn how to be better prepared if disaster strikes by joining local first responders at the fifth annual Emergency Preparedness Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's West End Medical Center, 501 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall. Residents will have a chance to learn from local police, fire and emergency medical workers at the day-long event which is sponsored by South Whitehall, North Whitehall and Upper Macungie townships.
- Victory BrewGrass Fest will be held Saturday at Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Breinigsville. Bluegrass music and craft beer from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.Â
- St. Joseph the Worker Church will hold a family bike ride to raise money for a Haitian medical mission from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Ironton Rail Trail in Whitehall. Â
- The Parkland High School football team will hit the road to Bethlehem to take on Liberty High School at 7 p.m. Friday.
- The Wildlands Conservancy is offering a Bike & Boat program at 1 p.m. Sunday. You'll bike from Sand Island in Bethlehem to Canal Park in Allentown, then canoe back downstream on the river. Fee: $25. You can register here.
