Weather Forecast: National Weather Service Issues Weather Advisory for Lehigh Valley

An impending Nor'easter is likely to bring several days of unpleasant weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Lehigh Valley beginning at 7 p.m. Monday and lasting through 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Lehigh Valley has already received one significant snowfall this season and a Nor’easter making its way up the coast threatens to bring more, according to the National Weather Service. The weather advisory warns of freezing rain, sleet and of snow and ice accumulations up to one inch and one-tenth of an inch, respectively.

Precipitation will begin as a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow this evening, according to the winter weather advisory. By mid-morning Tuesday, the precipitation should change to all rain.

The NWS warns that heavy, wet snow may lead to power outages on Monday night and Tuesday night. These types of weather conditions will cause travel difficulties and the NWS is urging all drivers to use caution while driving.

  • Tonight: Rain and snow, mainly after 4am. Low around 31. Northeast wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tuesday: Rain, snow, and freezing rain before 7am, then freezing rain between 7am and 8am, then rain after 8am. High near 40. North wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Tuesday Night: Rain before 3am, then rain and snow. Low around 32. Northwest wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becoming all snow after 10am. High near 37. Northwest wind 16 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Wednesday Night: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Thursday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
  • Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.
  • Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.
