South Whitehall Public Hearing About Wood-Fired Boilers Tonight
After the hearing, South Whitehall Commissioners will vote on an ordinance that would ban these boilers, thus making their use illegal.
A public hearing regarding an ordinance that, if adopted, could ban the use of wood-fired boilers in South Whitehall Township is scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
If the ordinance is adopted, South Whitehall Township Manager Jon Hammer said there would be a fine of no more than $100 plus court fees.
The ordinance up for debate reads as follows: "An Ordinance Amending The South Whitehall Township Codified Ordinances, Adopted As Ordinance No. 325, Inserting Outdoor Wood-Fired Boilers To The List Of Prohibited Devices Used For Containing Outdoor Fires; To Provide For A Definition Of Outdoor Wood-Fired Boilers; To Provide For A General Repealer; To Provide For A Severability Clause And To Provide For An Effective Date Under Chapter 6, Public Safety And Conduct."
