2017 Primary Election: Springfield Township Results

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Surely you ventured out to your local polling place Tuesday for the 2017 primary election. Now that voting is over, it's time to look at Springfield Township's results.

Four of the five municipal races were fielded candidates from only one party, while three of the four Springfield School District board races also only had on candidate running, as well.

Republican Paul J. Weschler earned 286 votes for the 4th Ward seat while Democrat Bonny Hodges earned 171 votes for the same seat.

Gina Sage (R) earned 269 votes in the race for 2nd Ward Commissioner, with 23 Democratic write-in votes.

Robert Layden Jr. (R) received 280 votes in a commissioner seat race, this time for 6th Ward. Democratic write-in votes totaled 17 in this race.

Republicans Joseph Rago and Margaret Young earned 1,839 and 1,865 votes for the auditor and tax collector roles, respectively. Twenty-eight write in votes came in for Democrats in the tax collector race, while the auditor race had just one Democratic write-in vote.

For the school board race, well break it down by region.

Region 1

  • Domenic Bentivegna earned 127 votes filing as a Republican and 40 filing as a Democrat

Region 2

  • Jennifer H. Loffland earned 93 votes as a Democrat and got 147 as a Republican;
  • Dennis Dunn received 153 votes as a Republican and earned 32 as a Democrat.

Region 3

  • Jennifer Flynn earned 206 votes filing as a Republican and as a Democrat got 107 votes.

Region 4

  • Bruce E. Lord Jr. (R) earned 263 votes;
  • Democratic write-in votes totaled just one.
