Officials said even with the county trending positively regarding the virus, holding the games would present a threat to participants volunteers, committee members, and sponsors.
"Given the number of participants, indoor venues, and shared sports equipment, it would be very difficult to ensure the safety and well-being of all, which is the primary concern of the committee and the County," officials said Thursday. "This was a very difficult decision and Delaware County appreciates your understanding. We hope our senior community is staying safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you at the games in 2021!"
