Delco Teen 3D Printing Faceshields For Coronavirus Responders
Taylor Duchinski of Delaware County is 3D printing components for supplementary face shields to be used during the COVID-19 pandemic.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A Delaware County teenager is joining the fight against the new coronavirus by using 3D printing technology to help those on the front lines of the virus fight.
Taylor Duchinski is 3D printing components for supplementary face shields to be used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Duchinski said the components he's made so far have been sent to New York City, but he wants to now provide them to Philly-area responders, as well as any other locations that need them.

To support his effort, Duchinski launched a GoFundMe campaign.
"I am hoping to produce 1200 units with this fundraiser," he said on the campaign's website. "The funds will be used for all aspects of the production including materials, printer repairs, electrical costs, and shipping fees and any other incurred expenses."

In just a few days' time, Duchinski passed his $1,000 goal, raising more than $1,400 as of Thursday morning.
Excess funds, if not used to produce additional units for donation, will be donated to the Wallingford Swarthmore School District STEM department. Duchinski is a junior at Strath Haven High School, according to Fox 29.
His effort is being supported by several local robotics groups — Positronic Panthers 486, Tin Mints 4575, and The Fighting Gophers 6327 — which have loaned additional 3D printers.
"The first set of parts for the printers were ordered yesterday and I will continue to post updates here as well as on my social media as to my progress bringing them online and my shipping numbers," Duchinski said in an update Thursday. "I would also like to thank you all for your support of this project."
