PennDOT To Pay $4.5M To Man Hurt In Bike Crash, Jury Says: Report

A jury said PennDOT knew about the hazardous condition and should be financially responsible for the man's bills, suffering, and lost wages.

Negligent work on a bridge led a Delaware County man to suffer drain damage after a bike crash, and a jury says PennDOT should pay the man and his wife for medical expenses, future suffering, and lost wages, according to media reports.

David Carletti, 63, of Boothwyn, crashed his bike May 26 2012 while riding over trolley tracks on Sproul Road where the jury said PennDOT showed negligence by leaving a bump in the road, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.

The jury ordered PennDOT to pay $2.4 million in medical expenses and lost wages, $2 million in past and future pain and suffering, and an additional $1 million for for loss of consortium to David Carletti's wife Brenda Carletti, according to the Times.
