Property Tax Reassessment Crews Photographing More Delco Areas

More properties in Delaware County municipalities will be photographed as the countywide property tax reassessment project continues.

Residents in a few Delaware County municipalities may see crews taking photographs of area properties as Delaware County's massive property tax reassessment project continues.

Delaware County officials said crews Tyler Technologies Inc. will be collecting images in Newtown and Tinicum townships, as well as Folcroft and Glenolden boroughs, beginning Thursday, April 5 for the project, which is the result of a court order to conduct a countywide property tax reassessment, effective for the 2021 tax year.

Tyler crews will be photographing properties from inside white vans which will be clearly marked, the county said.

Collected images will only be taken from the street and Tyler crews will not enter resident's private property. Photographs will not be taken of homeowners and/or children, Delco officials said.

Other areas in which crews have completed collecting images are Upper Darby Township, Haverford Township, East Lansdowne Borough, Yeadon Borough, Radnor Township, Marple Township, Lansdowne Borough, Clifton Heights Borough, Aldan Borough, Collingdale Borough and Sharon Hill.

The project includes data gathering, verification of data, establishment of assessed values and an opportunity to appeal.

The images collected by Tyler crews will boost the quality of visual data used by the county and Tyler appraisers, Delco officials said.

The project will also allow verification and correction of address discrepancies. The images will be helpful for emergency management recovery reports, necessary for state and federal assistance, as well, according to officials.

Tyler staff will be in Delaware County throughout the reassessment process, concluding in 2020. During the duration of the project Tyler will be in communication with the County, providing county officials and local law enforcement updates on current collection locations and expected duration.

Additional information on the project is available online here.
