Springfield Ambulance Corps President Dies

Visitation and Christian Burial will take place this weekend.

Jerry Gillen, president of Springfield Ambulance Corps, died on July 27.

Gillen was a member of the Corps for 16 years, and served as president of the Corps from 2001 to 2005 and 2009 to the present, according to The Delaware County Firemen's Association.

He was also a member of the Springfield Fire Company as a Fire Police Officer for the last 7 years, according to the association.

"Over the 7 years Jerry was with us he was a invaluable assets to the organization and assisted the fire company in any way possible," reads a note from Springfield Fire Company on its website.

According to the association's website, visitation will be held on Friday, August 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 3 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Kevin’s Church, 200 West Sproul Road in Springfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Kevin’s Church, and burial will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations in Gillen's memory be made to the Springfield Ambulance Corps, 201 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064.
