Springfield Crime Blotter: Burglary, Drugs, Guns, More

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.

Feb. 23 at 2:22 p.m.
Officer Bergman stopped a vehicle on the 400 block Baltimore Pike for a registration violation. Upon making contact with the driver, he observed the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. Further investigation of the driver and vehicle led to him locating a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. Shafiq Ellerbe, 22, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with weapons and drug offenses and held for arraignment.
Feb. 24 at 4:09 p.m.
While on patrol near the Parkway Inn, officers observed a female in the lot yelling and unable to keep her balance. She was observed striking a security guard in the arm. Officers learned the female had been kicked out of her room by staff. She was found to be highly intoxicated, and medical personnel was asked to check on her. She was cleared by a paramedic and taken into custody. A 43-year-old woman from was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness and later released.

Feb. 26 at 11:19 p.m.
Officers were called to the area of Meetinghouse Lane and Parker Drive for a report of subjects with guns. Officers located a vehicle leaving the area and stopped and identified three males who admitted to being in the area playing a prank on friends using BB air guns. Charges are pending.
Feb. 28 at 5:20 p.m.
Officers responded to a residence on the 500 block West Woodland Avenue to investigate a male subject who was trying to kick in a door to the house. Upon arrival, the male was observed fleeing in a vehicle south on Woodland Avenue. Officers learned the male had shown up at an ex-girlfriend’s house and tried to break inside. A short time later the male was found by Ridley Police and taken into custody. Christopher Stonelake, 32, of Folsom, was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief and traffic offenses and held for arraignment.
