Springfield Crime Blotter: Stolen Cars, Thefts, DUI Crash, More
A 22-year-old Philadelphia man accused of stealing from Macy's was hurt when he jumped from the mall's second floor to the first.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — The newest crime blotter from Springfield Police is out, and we have the details below.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between June 14 and June 20.

June 14 at 8:27 a.m.
Three parked vehicles were entered overnight, one of which items were taken on the 100 block N. Hillcrest Rd. Det. McNeely is investigating.
June 14 at 9:40 a.m.
A resident of the 100 block of North Hillcrest Road reported two vehicles were stolen from the driveway. Det. McNeely is investigating.

June 14 at 4:02 p.m.
Officers responded to the CVS, 300 block of Baltimore Pike, for a report of a male subject who had stolen merchandise and left the store. Officers located the suspect walking on the 100 block Baltimore Pike and took him into custody. Donald DiMatteo 27, of Chester, was charged with Retail Theft and also found to have an active arrest warrant from Delaware County. He was turned over to the Delaware County Sheriffs.
June 16 at 6:20 a.m.
An employee doing work for SEPTA on the trolley tracks reported numerous tools stolen from his vehicle which had been parked in the lot at Springfield Road.
June 16 at 5:51 p.m.
Officers responded to Macy’s at the mall to investigate the theft of underwear. They found a 47-year-old male from Collingdale who had stolen close to $300 worth of Polo underwear. The male was taken into custody and later released. Charges for Retail Theft will be filed.
June 19 at 2:02 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported a male subject had stolen over $500 worth of fragrance and ran out of the store on the second level. He ended up on the first level after jumping off the balcony. The merchandise was recovered, and the male was treated for injuries sustained. The 22-year-old from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft.
June 19 at 9:25 p.m.
A 27-year-old female from Wilkes Barre struck a vehicle while travelling on the 300 block of East Springfield Road. She then struck a utility pole causing the pole to impede the roadway. The driver was found to be intoxicated. She was treated for injuries and taken to a hospital. The roadway was closed for a period of time. Charges for DUI and traffic offenses will be filed.
June 20 at 12:15 a.m.
An 18-year-old male from Springfield was taken into custody and charged with UAD and Public Drunkenness after being found by police laying in the roadway on Powell Road near Woodland Avenue. He was released to family.
