Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, DUI Crash, Car Break Ins

Police said a 22 year old will be charged after crashing a vehicle while driving under the influence and possessing opioid paraphernalia.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their regular crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between May 17 and May 20.

May 17 at 12:24 a.m.
A 32-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested and charged with retail theft after Target security, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, reported he had stolen over $470 worth of merchandise. He also provided false identification information and was charged with false identification to police.

May 18 at 10:26 a.m.
Officers were called to the 900 block of Baltimore Pike to investigate the driver of a vehicle who appeared to be asleep. A moment later they were dispatched to Baltimore Pike at Thomson Avenue for a crash. It was found the driver made a left turn in front of traffic and caused the crash. The driver, 22, of Clifton Heights, was found to be intoxicated, possessed drug paraphernalia consistent with opioid use, and taken into custody. He submitted to a blood test and was released to family. Charges for DUI and drug offenses are pending.

May 18 at 8:40 p.m.
A 32-year-old woman from Woodlyn was taken into custody for stealing over $270 worth of underwear from Macy’s at the mall. She was released and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

May 20 at 2:25 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported they observed a male subject steal over $40 worth of clothing and took him into custody. Officers found the subject appeared to be intoxicated and possessed unsubscribed narcotic drugs. Devin Wesley, 26, of Philadelphia was charged with retail theft and drug offenses and held for arraignment. He was also found to have an active arrest warrant out of Philadelphia.

May 23 at 8:18 a.m.
Two patrons from Orange Theory Gym, 100 block of South State Road reported their vehicles had been broken into and their handbags stolen from inside. The vehicle had been parked since about 7 a.m.
