Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, DUI, Vandalism

Police said the back window of a vehicle parked on the 500 block Evans Road was smashed Saturday morning. See details on this and more here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between April 20 and April 25.

April 20 at 10:50 a.m.
Three work vans were broken into as they were parked on the lot at the Springfield Mall sometime during the morning hours. Electronic equipment and tools were stolen.

April 23 at 10:08 p.m.
Officers investigating a possibly disabled vehicle instead found an unconscious driver in a vehicle on the unit block South State Road. The driver was found to be intoxicated, and several drug items were located inside the vehicle. The 29 year old from Philadelphia was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was later released to family. Charges for DUI are pending.

April 24 at 9 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block Evans Road reported the rear window of his vehicle had been smashed sometime during the morning hours by an unknown object.

April 25 at 5:44 p.m.
Officers responded to Macy’s at the mall for a report that a male subject had stolen three watches from a display and left the store into the mall. The male was stopped by Macy’s security. A 57-year-old man from Philadelphia was taken into custody and charges with Retail Theft. He was held for arraignment.
