Springfield Crime Blotter: Thefts, Drugs, DUI Crash

DUI charges are pending after a vehicle crashed on the 300 block of North Rolling Road the afternoon of March 18. See full details here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between March 16 and March 20.

March 16 at 7:23 p.m.
An employee at Best Buy reported that while helping a customer, she set her phone down on a counter. She later realized the phone had been stolen and tracked the phone out of the area. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Math 18 at 11:42 a.m.
A resident of the 200 block of West Woodland Avenue reported observing a male opening a window to his kitchen. He confronted the male, and the male claimed to be looking for a different house and left the area. Sgt. J. DiTrolio is investigating.

March 18 at 2:35 p.m.
A resident reported that while shopping at Giant on the 900 block of Baltimore Pike, she had her purse in a shopping cart. She said she became distracted by a female asking for directions. When she later went to look for her wallet in the purse, she found the wallet missing. Later she received information that her credit cards had been used at various places. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

March 18 at 3:54 p.m.
Officers responded to the 300 block of North Rolling Road to investigate a crash. They found one vehicle into a tree. Witnesses said they observed the vehicle fail to negotiate a curve in the roadway and drive into the tree. The driver of the vehicle needed to be extricated and was found to be intoxicated. He was transported to a hospital for treatment, and charges for DUI are pending.

March 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Officers responded to the parking lot of Bed Bath and Beyond 800 block Baltimore Pike for a report of occupants inside a vehicle dumping trash onto the lot. They found the occupants of the vehicle eating and rolling marijuana cigarettes. They seized two containers of marijuana. Charges are pending against the driver, a 21-year-old male from Philadelphia.

March 20 at 10:41 a.m.
A resident of the unit block of South Brookside Road reported sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked truck and stole cash and a Home Depot bag containing items.
