Springfield Fire Company Gets $13,000 In Grant Funds

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The Springfield Fire Company has been awarded more than $13,000 total in grant funds to boost their services.

State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara, D-Delaware, announced the Springfield Fire Company received $13,426.46.

The grants are made possible by the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, and can be used toward repairing, building or renovating facilities.

Funds also can be applied toward purchase of new equipment, training and certification of staff, or it may go to repay debt related to equipment purchases or facility building and maintenance.

"Our community fire and EMS companies provide life-saving work in our communities, and for that they deserve endless thanks and respect," O’Mara said. "My dad was a firefighter, so working with first responders and ensuring that they have the tools they need to succeed is a cause I’m extremely passionate about. I am so thankful that the state is funding these heroes throughout Pennsylvania, but most importantly right here in the 165th Legislative District."

O’Mara noted that recipients still need to complete and return original signed copies of their grant agreements by July 31 in order to receive their money.
