Dawn Barnard

Patty Borlie

Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:
ICU/Critical Care Nurse

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Dawn has not worked less than 60 hours a week for over 6 weeks at her job in the ICU at Delaware County Hospital. With the demand for nurses that are trained in critical care so extreme, she refuses to say no when asked to pick up extra shifts. She used to go to our parents’ house every day. Because of them being highly susceptible to extreme complications if they were to get sick, Dawn has not allowed herself to do anymore for them then drop off groceries outside of their house. Not being able to see them up close and personal is one of the most difficult parts of this for her. Seeing more losses of lives than recoveries on a constant basis is the most difficult part.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
If you or your loved ones ever find yourselves in need of a critical care nurse, and I pray that it doesn’t come down to that, if you wound up with Dawn as your nurse, consider yourself blessed with by the presence of a true heaven-sent angel. I’m so proud of my baby sister!
