SPRINGFIELD, PA – A Springfield woman was recently honored for her skillful and compassionate care she gives her patients in her role as a nurse at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). The Daisy Foundation presented Stephanie Ashton, of Springfield, with the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
Ashton is an intensive care unit nurse at CTCA in Philadelphia and always wanted to be a nurse, just like her mother.

In one instance, she worked with a blind patient on a solution to differentiate buttons on the side of the patient’s bed to make sure the patient was comfortable.
In addition to Ashton earning the honor, CTCA Outpatient Oncology Clinic nurse Cheryl Butman of Dresher earned the award as well.
Ashton and Butman provide passionate patient care without expecting anything in return, and this is why their colleagues nominated them for the Daisy Award.
