Villanova Piccolo Girl Gets Invite to Tonight Show

Roxanna Chalifoux's teary-eyed reaction to the Wildcats upset loss made the school band member an Internet sensation.

It was not difficult to find Villanova fans heartbroken over the No. 1-seeded team’s upset loss to N.C. State over the weekend, but the sad sight of one of the university’s band members captured the Internet’s attention and made her an instant celebrity.

Roxanne Chalifoux rode her sudden popularity as the crying piccolo player to a guest appearance on Monday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sitting in with house band and Philadelphia natives The Roots.

Fallon credited Chalifoux for continuing to play her instrument despite her obvious sadness over Villanova’s elimination from the NCAA College Basketball Championship. He also handed Chalifoux a gift basket of Tonight Show swag and two tickets to a Taylor Swift concert.
