Bucks County Man Dies After Being Thrown From Horse

Springfield Township man's death ruled an accident.

A 71-year-old man died Monday night after being thrown from a horse in Springfield Township, according to the Lehigh County coroner’s office.

Melvin Weaver, of the 1900 block of Quarry Road in Springfield Township, was thrown from his horse at 2:15 p.m. while riding at the intersection of Quarry Road and Crowthers Road, Lehigh County coroner Scott Grim said, according to The Morning Call. Weaver suffered a head injury from the fall and was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, where he was pronounced dead at 8:26 p.m.

Grim determined Weaver’s death was due to the head trauma suffered from the fall and was ruled an accident, The Morning Call reports.
