• The Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown Wednesday.

• The Orefield Middle School Parent Teacher Organization will hold its first meeting of the school year Wednesday at 9 a.m.

• The Parkland High School boys golf team will host Northampton in a Lehigh Valley Conference match at 2:30 p.m.

• The Parkland High School girls field hockey team will host Nazareth in a Lehigh Valley Conference contest at 5:30 p.m.

• The Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors will hold a special budget work session Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the municipal building, located at 8330 Schantz Road.
