Forever 21 Goes Bankrupt, Closes Willow Grove Store

The clothing chain Forever 21 has released a list of locations around the local area and across the country that will close.

WILLOW GROVE, PA — The Forever 21 in Willow Grove Park Mall is among 178 across the country to announce its official closing on Wednesday, according to the company.

The announcement comes after the company, a staple of the teen retail scene since 1984, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sunday.

The store made it clear that it wasn't going out of business, as not all locations are going under.

The Forever 21 stores at the King of Prussia Mall, the Montgomery Mall, and the Limerick outlets appear to be safe.

The store is just the latest in a series of longstanding brick-and-mortar businesses that have seen a precipitous decline in profits in the Internet era.

There are a total of 549 Forever 21 stores in the United States.
