Garlanger, Hasani, Solot, & Weber: Taking the High Road

Garlanger, Hasani, Solot, and Weber run a positive campaign full of ideas and open to community input.

There has been a lot of talk out there about COVID fatigue. As a psychologist, I understand the phenomena, we are all exhausted from the social distancing requirements. But, interestingly, what we haven’t talked about is the political fatigue that many of us are suffering as well.

No one wants to talk politics. After the last four or five years where the country has been divided, and our community has been pitted neighbor against neighbor in a war of yard signs and allegiances that have wreaked havoc on family relationships, we are all tired of politics.

The same is true of the 4 Upper Moreland School Director slate of LouCrecie GARLANGER, Tom HASANI, Jennifer SOLOT and Tiffany WEBER. Having been closely involved in their campaign, I can say that they don’t want to talk about politics either, they want to talk about our kids and what they need. But, like many things in life, as adults we often need to do things that we don’t want to do, and this is one of them.

They have actively chosen to run a positive campaign, putting out information on their beliefs and their viewpoints on a great many topics. Choosing to talk about what they can and will do when elected rather than throw barbs at their opponents for family decisions or promote baseless conspiracy theories. They held a well-attended Community Connection, which was made available online two days after the event, where they answered questions that were submitted live by the attendees. This video is still available through their Facebook page for viewing. Questions that weren’t answered during the event were answered after and posted online.

In the face of relentless and harassing questions by community members who clearly oppose their election they have responded with truth and respect, each and every time. And, while there are community members who continue to push false narratives and allegations of collusion these four candidates continue to take the high road, knowing that attempting to defend themselves against these lies and accusations only divides our community more, something to which they are vehemently opposed.

The Primary Election is next Tuesday, May 18th. I have no doubt that these four candidates will continue to take the high road and lead by example. They will continue to answer questions, they will continue to tell the truth and they will continue to believe that we, as a community, are better than this.

I, for one, will be voting by name: GARLANGER, HASANI, SOLOT and WEBER.
