Huntingdon Valley Man, 74, Lied To Illegally Buy Firearm: Feds

A 74-year-old Huntingdon Valley man lied on a weapons application so that he could illegally buy a firearm, authorities said.

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A 74-year-old Huntingdon Valley man has been convicted after lying on a weapons application so that he could illegally buy a firearm.

Laurence Reinhard, 74, pleaded guilty to providing malicious false information about an explosive, and engaging in a hoax.

The purchase attempt came back on March 10, 2018, according to the US Attorney's Office.

Reinhard, who had previously been convicted of a felony, lied on his application and said that he had not been, authorities said.

This allowed him to purchase the weapon, aSmith and Wesson model 642 CT, .38 caliber, from a federal firearms licensee.

As part of his guilty plea, Reinhard acknowledged that he will not able to own a firearm in the future.

Sentencing is forthcoming.
