What business are you in?

"Retail store specializing in CBD (cannabidiol) products derived from hemp."

How did you come up with the name?

"As a store name, it should be clear that Hemp Headquarters offers a wide variety of hemp merchandise. CBD can be infused on many different products such as tinctures, creams, balms, oral sprays, topical creams, vape liquid, concentrates and more. We wanted a name that would speak to people and make clear the products we sell."

Why start a business in this town?

"Upper Moreland Township has been incredibly supportive of my business. We started out as Independence Vapors, a vaporizer store focused on helping smokers switch to a less harmful alternative. Since changing our name and store focus to hemp, we have seen wonderful support from the local community. It is also a great location and is near the Willow Grove train station and other commerce centers."

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

"Certainly, selling hemp products requires providing quite a bit of education to the customer. After 80 years of “reefer madness” the public is finally realizing the usefulness of hemp. Hemp is food, fiber and CBD is a natural herbal extract for healing. We continuously educate our customers about the products we sell and stand by their quality and safety."

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

"Finding a wide variety of hemp products is a continuous challenge. American farmers have been banned from growing this useful plant for 80 years so I had to search, and continue to search, for products using hemp. The majority of hemp is imported which elevates the price on some products. Even with this challenge, I am proud to have found so many hemp products and offer for sale items most people have never seen."

How does your business give back to the community?

"We routinely give to the local police, fireman and fire police volunteer organizations and also belong to the Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce. We want to be a resource for community members looking for a natural herbal alternative. CBD is non-psychoactive, non-addictive and has no known side effects. We hope the local community will get great benefit from the use of these products."
