New 'Studio Movie Grill' Coming To Willow Grove

WILLOW GROVE, PA — Great news for movie lovers in the local area: a new Studio Movie Grill is coming to Willow Grove Park Mall.

A full service bar and dinner menu with be available at new theater, which is being built into the old JC Penney building. It is expected to open at some point in 2019, according to Preit, owners of the mall.

Similar to the Movie Tavern, which has opened up locations around the area, the Studio Movie Grill allows guests to order directly from their seat with the push of a button.

The theater also, however, offers additional dining options, including tableside, counter space, lounge seats with tray tables, and reclining lounges with tray tables.

The new theater will offer 12 screens. Preit says it will occupy only a portion of the old JC Penney.

"Today's mall experience is an opportunity for shopping, entertainment and socializing, and Preit's investments in experiential concepts are enabling our offerings to evolve alongside our shoppers' habits," Joseph F. Coradino, CEO of Preit, said in a statement. "Studio Movie Grill offers entertainment and dining that elevates the consumer experience, and by welcoming the theater to Willow Grove Park, we're providing local shoppers with more reasons to extend their mall visit."

Preit added that they were confident in the success of the new theater, revealing research which they said showed Willow Grove Mall shoppers were 87 percent more likely than other Philadelphia area shoppers to attend a movie four times or more over a period of three months.

Studio Movie Grill is also located in Upper Darby.
