Non-Emergency Crime Policies Shift At Upper Moreland PD
Non-emergency incidents will be initially handled by phone in Upper Moreland, and in person response will be on a case by case basis.

UPPER MORELAND, PA — As the coronavirus outbreak continues, law enforcement agencies are working to adjust their procedures to help limit the spread of the disease.
In Upper Moreland, one of those changes involves the response to non-emergency incidents, such as theft, fraud, vandalism, and related incidents.
Those cases will be initially handled by a phone call from an officer with the reporting individual, in order to maintain CDC-recommended social distancing.

Each case will then be analyzed individually to determine if in-person response is essential.
"We will continue to respond directly to all emergency and life safety incidents as we have always done in the past," the department said Tuesday. "Regardless of the nature of the incident, someone from the police department will provide guidance and an explanation of what the police response will be in regard to each specific call for police service."
