Unknown Object Smashes Truck Windshield On PA Turnpike

The driver said the object "missed him by an inch," blasting his GPS unit into the back windshield. State police are investiagting.

WILLOW GROVE, PA — An unknown object crashed through the windshield of a truck as it drove down the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Willow Grove, nearly causing catastrophe. State police are investigating.

The incident occurred in Willow Grove Wednesday night as a local man was on his way to work.

The driver, Charles Hayward, said in a Facebook video showcasing the damage that "I almost died."

The impact of the object knocked his GPS loose and smashed it into the rear window of the truck, which was cracked as well.

"It just missed me by like an inch," he said.

Hayward said it sounded and looked like a gunshot. No bullet — or other object — has been recovered.

It took place just a few hours before a man was shot in an apparent road rage incident on Route 309 in Whitemarsh.
