A Willow Grove man is facing charges after an indictment says he hired workers to remove asbestos and didn’t tell them the danger of what they were doing or take proper safety measures, according to Montgomery Media.

David Mermelstein, 53, was indicted on five counts of illegal asbestos removal at a warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia, the paper reported.

Because of the serious health problems associated with asbestos handling, asbestos removal is heavily regulated.

Mermelstein could face up to 25 years behind bars and a $1.25 million fine if he is convicted, according to Montgomery Media.
