Allentown Karate Instructor Charged With Rape

A karate instructor from Allentown was charged yesterday with sexually assaulting his teenage student two years ago.

Christopher Calcagni, 51, was charged with statutory sexual assault of child, indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Northampton County Prison under $100,000 bail.

He sustained a sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl for two months. He threatened to bar her from the karate school if she didn’t participate.

He has been charged with multiple rapes in both 1988 and 1991.

Calcagni owns Saucon Valley Martial Arts in Salisbury Township. At the time of his plea in Bethlehem, Calcagni was no longer eligible for childcare work.
