Buckingham Palace Confirms: Kate Middleton Pregnant

After Middleton is admitted to the hospital, palace confirms the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child.

Expect news and social media to have a decidedly British tone today.

In a statement just released by palace officials, Prince William of England and wife Duchess Kate Middleton are expecting their first child.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks as the "royal bump watch" took center stage in tabloid newspapers across the world.

Buckingham Palace officials confirmed the news when Middleton was admitted to the hospital for Hyperemesis Gravidarum, also known as acute morning sickness that can require IV fluids and additional supplements. 

According to the Huffington Post, The official statement reads:

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.

The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.
