Solehi School District Organizes Anti-Bullying Task Force

In conjunction with Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, district takes steps to form task force to address bullying issues.

October is Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, and Southern Lehigh School District is taking that to heart.

According to Superintendent Leah Christman's report to the school baord Monday night, district administrators are spearheading a task force to address bullying at school. 

Intermediate School Assistant Principal Dr. Sean McGinty will head the task force. The district has an existing anti-bullying policy.

According to Christman's memo, the task force goals include: 

1. Identify at each school "what we are already doing" [to prevent and address bullying and cyberbullying].

2. Develop student, staff and parent surveys and collect bullying-related data.

3. Gather outside resources with the intent of creating a web page dedicated to educating parents about bullying.

4. Develop a plan to include parent representatives on the task force as well as other building staff who understand bullying issues and behavior.

5. Develop a program for parent information nights -- one K-6 and one 7-12 -- to keep parents informed and educated about bullying and what SLSD is doing to address the issue.
