Coopersburg Constable Announces Candidacy for District Justice

With current District Judge David Harding retiring, Coopersburg resident and constable Michael J. Zweifel announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District Court 31-3-03.

Zweifel was elected constable in 1992, serving that court and others throughout the Lehigh Valley. 

"I'm running because it's the next level of my life," said Zweifel in an interview. "I received [the district justice] certification years ago." Zweifel has close to 20 years' experience in the courts of district judges. "I understand the mechanics of a court, the process of a court and how to make a court efficient."

According to the press release, Zweifel has been a lifelong resident of the Southern Lehigh area, is a family man with three daughters, one son, two grandchildren and an extended family of more than 30.  Born and raised in Lower Milford Township, he was a volunteer for the Lower Milford Township Fire Department and then graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in 1973, and attended DeSales University. 

Zweifel resides in the Coopersburg house he bought in 1977. He is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, an avid fundraiser for Autism Speaks (his grandson was diagnosed with autism), and local Emergency Management Coordinator working with emergency radio communications. Zweifel is an avid amateur radio operator, a small business owner and member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
