Girl Scouts of Southern Lehigh Host Flag Retirement Event at Chestnut Hill United Church of Christ, Coopersburg

Girl Scouts of Southern Lehigh camped overnight to prepare for a Flag Retirement program. Cadette Girl Scouts (grades 6-8) led the Juniors (grades 4-5), Brownies (grades 2-3), and Daisy Girl Scouts (grades K-1) in a program to learn how to honor our American flag. The Saturday program ran in stations and girls learned about flag ceremonies, how to fold a flag, flag etiquette, cut stars from flags for "Stars for our Troops" program, decorated cards for veterans, and participated in a flag retirement ceremony. The girls collected food donations for Betty Lou's Food Pantry. During the flag retirement ceremony, they sang “God Bless America” with American Sign Language and ended with “Taps”.
