Lower Milford Elementary Celebrates Earth Day

The students of Lower Milford Elementary School will celebrate Earth Day with a variety of environmentally themed activities during the day on Thursday.

Lower Milford Elementary School students will celebrate Earth Day on Thursday, May 2, through an environmentally focused daylong schedule planned by a "very active parents committee" and teachers.

The committee and teachers work together to plan the Earth Day program each year, according to Lower Milford Principal Carol Mickley.

There is a specific schedule of activites throughout the day for each grade level, Mickley explains, including a stream study for third-graders and tree study for students in grade two.

A number of outside groups and agencies participates in Lower Milford's Earth Day events each year, Mickley says, with past supporters including the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Lake Nockamixon environmental educators and representatives of the Penn State Cooperative.
