Recycle Old Electronics This Saturday in Coopersburg

The 'Free Electronics Recycling Day' will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 333 E. Oxford Drive, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Do you have old VCRs, telephones and other "e-waste" that you want to get rid of?

If so, be sure to mark your calendar for an electronics recycling event that will be held in Coopersburg this Saturday.

The "Free Electronics Recycling Day" will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 333 E. Oxford Drive, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Items that will be accepted for recycling free of charge are:

  • Telephones/cell phones
  • DVD players/VCRs
  • Stereos, speakers, cables and cords
  • Smartboards, keyboards and mice
  • Microwaves
  • Exercise equipment
  • Desktop and laptop computers
  • LCD/CRT monitors and projectors
  • Printers, fax machines and floor copiers
  • UPS battery backups/laptop batteries
  • Calculators and adding machines
  • Gaming systems
  • Copiers, scanners and print cartridges
  • Metal items
Items that will be accepted for a charge include:
  • Refrigerators ($30)
  • Air conditioners ($20)
  • Washers and dryers ($10 each)
  • Car batteries ($5)
  • Floor freezers ($30)
  • Dehumidifiers ($20)
  • Dishwashers ($10)
  • TVs ($30; $40 for TVs with wood cabinets)
Hard drive destruction will be available offsite for a $10 fee (includes a certificate of destruction). Offsite document shredding for $10 per standard paper-size box will also be available with a certificate of destruction.

Proceeds from Saturday's event will benefit Coopersburg Community Outreach projects and monetary donations will be accepted, according to a flyer.
