Sinkhole in Salisbury Closes Residential Street

A street in Salisbury Township was closed Tuesday morning after the street collapsed.

A large sinkhole formed Tuesday morning under a garbage truck in Salisbury Township, forcing crews to close the street and shut down utilities to the neighborhood.

The 4-foot-deep sinkhole opened up under a garbage truck in the 800 block of South 25th Street, nearly knocking one of the sanitation workers off the back of the truck, according to The Morning Call. No injuries were reported.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. and found the hole quickly filling with water, the newspaper said. Water to the neighborhood was quickly shut off and no gas leaks were reported.
