Spaeth Wins Upper Saucon Supervisor Primary

Philip Spaeth was the top vote-getter in Tuesday's Upper Saucon Supervisor primary, according to unofficial results.

Philip Spaeth may be returning to the Upper Saucon Township Board of Supervisors based on the unofficial results of Tuesday's primary.

Spaeth was the top vote-getter among four Republicans vying for one seat.

  • Gerard Anthony: 250
  • Joe Rizzuto: 123
  • Doris Clegg: 49

There were no Democratic candidates, which means Spaeth advances to the general election unopposed unless someone mounts a write-in campaign in the fall.

Pending the outcome of the November election, Spaeth will replace supervisor Jack E. Gilda Jr., who did not seek re-election.

Spaeth, 63, served as a township supervisor in the past and was also on the township planning commission.

He's lived in the township for 36 years and is a purchasing manager for Air Products and Chemicals. He holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a MBA from State University of New York at Buffalo.

Clegg was on the ballot even though she told Patch she decided to withdraw from the race in favor of Gerard Anthony.
