David Schultz, Former Upper Southampton Police Chief, Dies

UPPER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — David Schultz, the retired police chief in Upper Southampton, has died, the department announced. Schultz passed away on Saturday, according to current Chief Ronald MacPherson.

Schultz began working with Upper Southampton Police in November 1964 as a patrol officer. He rose through the ranks to sergeant and lieutenant and became chief in 1989. Schultz served as the township's chief of police for 20 years.

Schultz was a native of the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia and a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a graduate of the 136th session of the FBI National Academy and a past-president of the Bucks County Police Chiefs Association.

"The Upper Southampton Township Police Department and staff passes on our condolences to his wife, Betty, and their entire family," MacPherson said in a news release.

Funeral arrangements for Schultz had not been publicly announced as of Monday morning.
