Hanukkah Begins Sundown Tuesday, Local Events Planned
Celebrate Hanukkah with these local observations.

Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, begins at sundown Tuesday and goes until Dec. 24. The Jewish holiday commemorates the story of the Maccabean Revolt against Syrian rulers in present day Israel 2,300 years ago.
Here’s a look at some local celebrations and observances:
- A Menorah Lighting at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m.
- Doylestown’s annual Chanukah Songfest will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at State and Hamilton streets.
- The Shoppes at Valley Square in Warrington will hold a Hanukkah celebration on Thursday at 6 p.m. Click here for more information.
- Chanukah Wonderland is now open at the Village at Newtown South, 2116 S. Eagle Rd. The store will be open through Dec. 23. Click here for hours and more information.
- The Philadelphia Chanukah Parade is Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. Click here for more information.
- The Yardley McCaffrey’s will host a Hanukkah celebration on Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The event will include food, crafts and a photo booth.
- Lubavitch of Bucks County will host a Hanukkah concert and community Menorah lighting on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Glazier Jewish Center 25 N. State St., Newtown. Click here for more details.
