Southampton Free Library Schedule: Story Times, Book Clubs
The library has released its October schedule and it includes story times for kids, book club meetings, book sales, murder mystery and more.

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — The Southampton Free Library has released its schedule for October.
The library is located at 947 Street Rd. in Southampton. Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and holidays.

Fall Story Hour. Tuesdays, through Oct. 9 and Fridays through Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Children will sing songs, listen to stories, create crafts, and play with educational toys. All ages welcome and this is a walk-in program.
Music and Motion with Two of a Kind. Oct. 1, 22 and 29, Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Join David or Jenny from Two of a Kind for stories, rhythm, dancing, and music. This program is walk-in until space filled and for ages birth and up.

Teen Board Game Club. Tuesdays, Oct. 2, 23 and 30, 5-6 p.m. Come socialize and play fun, challenging board games with your friends. Walk-ins welcome.
Genealogy Workshop. Oct. 3, 10:30 a.m. Susan Koelble, a professional genealogist will lead a workshop on genealogical research and assist you with your own research. Workshop is held every first Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Please register online at www.southamptonfreelibrary.org or by phone at (215) 322-1415.
Read to Lucy the Bulldog. Oct. 3, 4:30-5 p.m. and Oct. 5, 11:15 a.m-noon. Read to Olivia. Bring your favorite book or borrow one of ours and read to a new four-legged friend. These programs are all ages and walk-in.
Color Your Way to Serenity. Oct. 4 and Oct. 18, 1 p.m. Color your way to serenity at our Adult Coloring program on the first and third Thursday of October. Come and meet your new best friend while you enjoy tea and treats.
Weekend Walks Tamanend Park. Oct. 6, 10 a.m. Join us at Tamanend Park as we discover where the Pennypack Trail will eventually meet up with the park. It will be a nice shady walk among the trees. Meet at the tennis court Parking lot.
Story Stroll at Tamanend Park. Oct. 6, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The library will be at Tamanend Park with a story stroll set up for all ages to enjoy. Follow the pages of the story Scoot by Cathryn Falwell as you explore the paved trail in Tamanend Park. The paved trail starts right next to the park office.
Teen Board Game Club at Starbucks. Tuesday, Oct. 9 5-6 p.m. Come socialize and play fun, challenging board games with your friends at our local Starbucks, 707 Street Road, Southampton. Walk-ins welcome.
Evening Book Club. Oct. 9. 6:45 p.m. This month's selection is "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr. Please join us for an entertaining discussion
Board Games for Grownups at Moss Mill Brewery. Oct. 24, 6 p.m. We will be hosting Board Games for Grownups at Moss Mill Brewing Company (109 Pike Circle, Unit D, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006) from 6-9 p.m. Come play board games with family and friends and enjoy some craft beer. We will bring board games but you are welcome to bring your own to share as well.

Tea with the BBC. Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Come watch Grantchester, Season 1, Episodes 5 & 6 while enjoying tea and scones. Lehigh Valley Zoo: Sloth and Penguin Ambassadors. Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. -Join the Lehigh Valley Zoo and learn about some neat animals. Meet their sloth and penguin ambassadors! Please register online at www.southamptonfreelibrary.org or by phone at (215) 322-1415. Space is limited.
Fire Safety with the Upper Southampton Fire Department. Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Learn about fire safety, about a firefighter's job, meet their mascot Sparky, and explore a real firetruck. This is an all-ages and walk-in program.
Fall Used Book Sale. Oct. 12 and 13 All Day - The semi-annual Used Book Sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13 from 10 am until 5 pm in the Mary Exum Room. Hard and soft cover books, children’s books, cookbooks, magazines, audiobooks, puzzles, CDs and DVDs will be sold. There will be a $5 bag sale October 15–19. Donations in good condition needed! Please, no encyclopedias, National Geographic Magazines, textbooks or video and cassette tapes. Donations will be accepted beginning September 8th

Panic at the Library Teen Murder Mystery. Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. The Deweys cordially invite you to feast, do the Chicken Dance, and participate in the escape room they have designed. Trouble is brewing though, and by the end of the night someone in the wedding party will be dead. It will be up to you to figure out who did it and why! This program is open to 6th-12th graders. When dropping off the teens we will be providing media release forms as we would like to take pictures and videos of the performance (the form is optional). Block Party. Oct. 18. 10:30-11:30 a.m. All ages are invited to play with blocks and toys at this walk-in program.
Story Tails Reading Program with the Women’s Humane Society. Oct. 18, 6 p.m. Come help socialize a friendly, adoptable shelter animal by reading to them! While waiting for your turn to read, explore the library and make treats for the shelter animals! This is a walk-in program.
Life on the Napo River — A Glimpse of the Ecuadoran Amazon, Its People, and Their Traditions. Oct. 20, 11:00 a.m. This 35-minute video documentary presents footage of Ecuador's Napo River and spellbinding accounts by members of two indigenous tribes, who recount key moments of cultural transition and narratives of traditional life. There will be a Q & A after the viewing with the creator, Lynn Levin.
Upper Southampton Police Officers Story Hour. Oct. 23, 10:30 a.m. - Meet our local police officers, make fun crafts, explore vehicles, and even take a tour of the police station. This is an all-ages and walk-in program.
Crazy 8’s, Season 3. Oct. 23 and 30, 1:30 p.m. Crazy 8’s math club is a program offered through the Bedtime Math Foundation. Math meets mischief in this non-traditional math club. Learn Ninja Skills, about the Solar System, Color Combinations and more! This program is the next in the set (last set was hosted January 2018). Please register each child participating separately. TAG (Teen Advisory Group) Meeting. Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. Enjoy snacks, freshly popped popcorn, earn volunteer hours, and plan events for your peers. This group is open to 6th-12th graders. We will be planning events for November and December at this meeting.
Little Explorers. Oct. 26 and 30, 10:30 a.m. This is a guardian/child bonding program. Explore different science stations at your own pace. Play with educational toys and learn together. Recommended preschool-1st grade.
Weekend Walks Neshaminy Warwick Cemetery. Oct. 27, 10 a.m. Join us Halloween weekend as we do our annual cemetery walk. This year, we will be exploring the Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church Cemetery. We will be met by the church historian who will show us the graves of famous locals, including William Tennent, the cemetery chapel and the church sanctuary which was built in 1743. We will meet either in the library parking lot at 9:30 a.m. to caravan or at the parking lot of the Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church, 1401 Meetinghouse Rd, Warminster. 18974, at 10 a.m.
